OL98: Cannot Insert File in Read Mode of Mail Message

SYMPTOMS

You open an e-mail message and on the Insert menu, you want to insert a File or Object and notice that the menu commands are not available.


CAUSE

The format of the message is either HTML or Plain Text.


RESOLUTION

On the Edit menu, click Edit Message before attempting to insert the item.


MORE INFORMATION

There are times when you receive a message you may want to attach an item or a file to the message before saving it. If the format of the message is HTML, or Plain Text, click the Edit menu, and then click Edit Message, to insert the item.

You can determine the format of the message by observing the information in the title bar of the message. At the end of the title you will see Message - (HTML), or Message - (Plain Text)
