OL98: ErrMsg: MAPI32.DLL is Corrupt or the Wrong Version

SYMPTOMS
When starting Microsoft Outlook 98 for the first time, you may receive the
following error message:
Mapi32.dll is corrupt or the wrong version
RESOLUTION
Rename Mapi32.dll, and then run Outlook 98 Setup.

Rename Mapi32.dll
- Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
- Type "Mapi32.dll" (without quotation marks) in the Named box.
- In Look In, click to select My Computer. Click Find Now.
- With the right mouse button, click to select Mapi32.dll from the list.
- Click Rename, and type Mapi32.old. Press ENTER to accept the
name change.
NOTE: If there are multiple copies of Mapi32.dll, rename them all.
Re-install Outlook
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click to select Microsoft Outlook 98, and then click Add/Remove.
- Click Rerun Outlook 98 Setup.
- Click Next on the Outlook 98 Active Setup window.
- Click to select your installation option and then click Next.
- Double check your E-mail Service Options and then click Next.
- Verify the folder to install to and then click Next.
Setup will now replace any missing files with the correct files.
Restart the computer and start Outlook.
