OL98: File Attachments Will Not Open When Using Wordmail

The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMS
You cannot open a file attachment in a Microsoft Outlook 98 e-mail message
if the following two conditions are true:
- You are using Microsoft Word 97 as your e-mail editor.
- The message was originally created with the sensitivity set to Private.
RESOLUTION
Choose one of the following methods.
Method 1
- Quit Outlook.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- Type "outlook /regserver" (without the quotation marks), and click OK.
NOTE: There is a space character preceding the slash character (/).
Method 2
To open the file attachment, do not use Microsoft Word as your e-mail
editor. To choose another format, follow these steps:
- Start Outlook.
- On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Mail Format tab.
- Select a format such as Microsoft Outlook Rich text in the "Send in
this message format" list, and then click OK.
- Open the message containing the attached file.
- Double-click the attachment to open it.

Steps to Reproduce Problem
- Compose a new mail message using Word as the e-mail editor.
- Attach a Word document.
- Click Options in the open message and set the sensitivity to Private.
- Send the message to yourself.
- Open the message and double-click the file attachment.
The file attachment does not open.
NOTE: This is not a problem when using the Microsoft Exchange Client with
Word as the e-mail editor.
