OL98: How to Install the ODBC Drivers with Outlook 98

The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARY
The Open Data Base Connectivity (ODBC) drivers do not install by default
with Microsoft Outlook 98. You must take additional steps to install them
after your initial Outlook setup.
MORE INFORMATION
If you are upgrading to Outlook 98 from Outlook 97, or if you already have
other Microsoft Office 97 products installed, you may already have the ODBC
drivers on your computer. If not, you can install them from these three
sources:
- The Microsoft Web download site.
- Your Microsoft Outlook 98 compact disc.
- Your Microsoft Office 97 compact disc.
ODBC drivers are available for the following file formats:
- Microsoft Access
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft FoxPro
- dBase
To Install the ODBC Drivers from the Outlook 98 Compact Disc
- Insert you Outlook 98 Setup compact disc.
- From the ValuPack\Dataacc folder, copy the file Dataacc.exe to your
Desktop.
- Double-click the Dataacc.exe file to install the ODBC drivers.
To Install the ODBC Drivers from the Office 97 Compact Disc
- Insert the Office 97 Setup compact disc.
- In the ValuPack folder, double-click Valupk8.hlp.
- From the list, click the button beside Data Access Pack.
- Click the button following, "To install the Data Access Pack, click,"
then click Yes and follow the instructions.
