SYMPTOMS

When trying to move the contents of a folder with the Move Folder command, the entire folder moves and becomes a sub-folder of the destination.

You will receive similar results with the Copy Folder command.

CAUSE

This is by design. The Move or Copy Folder commands will move the folder, folder views, and settings as well as the folder contents.

MORE INFORMATION

There may be times when you may want to move the contents of a folder to another folder. The Move Folder option may seem to be the logical method to accomplish this, however this will move the folder, folder views and settings, along with the contents to the destination as a sub folder.

To Move the Folder Contents Only

To move the contents of a folder to another, use the following steps:

NOTE: Any items being filtered or Sorted out of the view will not be moved. Clear all filters and sort options before starting this process if you want everything to be moved.

1. On the View menu, click Folder List if it is not visible.

2. On the Folder List, click to select the folder that contains the items

   you wish to move.

3. On the View menu, point to Current View, and click to select Phone List.

4. On the Edit menu, click Select All.

5. Drag the files in the right pane to the destination on the Folder List.

To copy the files to a new folder instead of moving them, hold
the CTRL key down when you drag the files.
