RESOLUTION
Choose the resolution appropriate to your needs.
Create a Shortcut
If you want an icon for Outlook Express, you can create a shortcut to the
Outlook Express program (msimn.exe) and place it on the Windows Desktop.
For more information on creating shortcuts, search on "shortcuts, adding
to the desktop," using the Windows 95 Help Index.
Locate Outlook Express on the Program Menu
Outlook Express moved to a different location on the Programs menu. To
start Outlook Express using the Programs menu, click Start, point to
Programs, point to Internet Explorer, and click Outlook Express.
Method 3
If News is the only type of account you can add to Outlook Express, you
mistakenly started the Microsoft Outlook Newsreader. The Outlook
Newsreader appears on the Programs menu in the same location as Outlook
Express, prior to installing Outlook. See the "Locate Outlook Express on
the Program Menu" section for the correct way to start Outlook Express.
MORE INFORMATION
When you install Outlook and choose to upgrade from Outlook
Express, the following occurs:
- Your account settings migrate to the Outlook Account manager.
- Outlook Express mail and address book items move to the default
Outlook Personal Folders file.
- The Outlook Express icon may disappear from the Desktop.
Outlook Setup places two shortcuts in the Programs folder of the Start
menu. One shortcut is Microsoft Outlook, and the other is Microsoft
Outlook Newsreader. A command-line switch is added to the shortcut target
of the Newsreader which disables the mail functionality of Outlook
Express. It also turns off the ability to add new mail accounts.
This command-line switch is:
/outnews
