PPT2000: Opening Presentation HTML File With Other Applications Does Not Open Entire Presentation

If you attempt to open a PowerPoint web page in another application for editing, the presentation will not be displayed if you open <filename>.htm. This HTML file only defines frames for the presentation and checks for proper Web browser support. The content files are located in a folder named <filename>_files. (You can manually change this folder within PowerPoint options.) The HTML files are named according to each slide in your presentation (for example: Slide0001.htm, Slide0002.htm).

Microsoft Office applications use XML and complicated scripts to describe Web pages, and enable these pages to be opened natively in the program that created them. This XML code is unique to the host application, and can be misinterpreted by other applications. Editing the HTML code generated by Microsoft PowerPoint is not recommended or supported by Microsoft. Minor changes to this code can cause problems up to and including corruption and total loss of your HTML presentation.
