PPT2000: Cannot Drag Clip Into Outline Window

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to drag a clip from Microsoft Clip Gallery 5.0 into the Outline Pane in PowerPoint Normal view, PowerPoint will fail while it attempts to import the clip, and you will receive the following error message:

PowerPoint can't open the type of file
represented by Pathname\Imagename.ext
Where Pathname is the path to where the file is stored, and Imagename.ext is name and file extension for the image you are trying to drag onto the slide's outline page.

This is not a fatal error.


CAUSE

The PowerPoint outline window cannot accept images. The outline window is designed to accept only text.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
