PPT2000: Cannot Export in all Graphic Formats
ID: Q226607
|
The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
SYMPTOMS
In the Save as type... list in the Save As dialog box, you may see the following graphic file types listed:
- Windows Bitmap (*.bmp, *.dib)
- Targa (*.tga)
- Tagged Image File Format (*.tif)
- PC Paintbrush (*.pcx)
If you try to use one of these formats, you will get the following error message:
PowerPoint was unable to export all slides.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when a program, such as Microsoft Picture It!, registers export filters under the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters\Export
Not all export filters that are registered here can be used by PowerPoint 2000. This is because the export filters installed by Picture It! 99, are written to work only with Picture It! 99.
WORKAROUND
Save Slides in the PNG Format
If you need to save your presentation in one of the previously mentioned formats, you can use the Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format as an intermediary format between PowerPoint 2000 slides and the final graphics format.
The PNG format supports up to 32 million colors and uses a lossless compression scheme to retain maximum detail. These files can then be taken into any graphics application and saved out in the format desired.
- From the File menu, click Save as....
- Next, from the Save as type... list, click to select Portable Network Graphics (*.png).
- Click OK.
- If you want to save the entire presentation as a series of images, click Yes. If you just want to save the current slide in the PNG format, click No.
