ID: Q212417

The information in this article applies to:

To send mail to a specific recipient in a slide show presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint, you can create a hyperlink to a mailto Uniform Resource Locator (URL). The mailto URL uses the following syntax:

where <mailto> is the protocol, and <email_address> is the e-mail address of the recipient (for example, mailto:example@microsoft.com).

This mailto link can be used in a presentation running in Kiosk mode; however, the Kiosk station must have a method, such as a keyboard, to write the message. Nevertheless, you can format the mailto URL to address a mail message to a specific recipient, when you click the link. This article describes how to create a mailto hyperlink.

To create a mailto hyperlink, follow these steps:

Method 1

Just type the complete email address into a text frame. The hyperlink information will be appended automatically.

Method 2

  1. Create a text frame, type some text, and highlight the text you would like to use as a hyperlink.

  2. Click Insert, then click Hyperlink.

  3. In the "Type the file or Web page name" box, type mailto:<email_address> where <email_address> is the e-mail address of the recipient. Click OK.

NOTE: For this to work, you must have an e-mail client installed and running correctly.
