|
If you use the drag and drop technique to move an Internet shortcut of a PowerPoint web presentation into the PowerPoint application window, one of the following problems may occur:
On Windows 98 with Internet Explorer 4.x:
Where localpath is a drive letter and path on the your computer, and filename.htm is the name of Web Presentation you are trying to open.PowerPoint can't open the type of file represented by localpath\filename.htm.url
-or-On Windows NT 4.x or Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 5.x: PowerPoint opens a generic, blank presentation.
If you want to open a file from a Web site, you can either specify the URL to the Web presentation directly in the PowerPoint Open dialog box, or you can create a Web Folder that is mapped to the Web site where the Web presentation resides.
For more information about Web Folders, click Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 Help on the
Help menu, type "How do I create a Web Folder?" in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard,
and then click Search to view the topic.
-or-For more information about opening files on a web server, click Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 Help on the Help menu, type "How do I open a web presentation?" in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topic.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
