PPT2000: Slides View in Wrong Order when Viewing Custom Show as HTMLID: Q226656
|
When you save a PowerPoint Custom Slide Show as a Web Page, the outline frame may not behave as expected. When you click a slide in the Outline pane, the incorrect slide may be selected.
In addition, the slide show may unexpectedly loop between slides in the custom slide show if you run the slide show full screen, or if you use the navigation arrows on the bottom of the browser window to navigate the presentation.
This problem can occur if a custom slide show repeats the same slide more than once. In HTML, PowerPoint uses scripts to represent the custom show. If the same slide is referenced multiple times, the script will reference and link to the first instance of the slide. This causes the wrong slide to be selected when you click the Outline pane. This may also cause a section of the presentation to loop endlessly when you view it full screen.
For Example:
A custom slideshow from PowerPoint navigates to slides in the following order: Slide 1, Slide 2, Slide 1, Slide 3. When this slideshow is saved as HTML, only one copy of each slide is saved. In the HTML outline pane, Slide 1, 2, 3, and 4 will be listed.
When you click Slide 1 in the outline pane of the web page, the first slide in the custom show is displayed (Slide 1) and Slide 1 is selected in the outline pane. When you click Slide 2 in the outline pane, the second slide in the custom show is displayed (Slide 2) and Slide 2 is selected in the Outline pane. When you click Slide 3 in the outline pane, the third slide in the custom show is displayed (Slide 1) and Slide 1, not Slide 3, is selected in the Outline pane.
If you use the navigation buttons at the bottom of the web browser to navigate your presentation, Slide 3 will navigate back to Slide 1, and the presentation will loop endlessly. If you view the presentation by clicking the Full Screen Slide Show button in the lower right corner, Slide 3 will navigate back to Slide 1, and the presentation will loop endlessly.
Modify your slide show in slide sorter view by repeating and moving slides so that creating and using a custom slide show is unnecessary, before exporting your presentation to HTML.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.
