PPT2000: SNDTRK: Cannot install Custom Soundtrack add-in

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install the Custom Soundtrack for PowerPoint 97 into PowerPoint 2000, you will receive the following error message:

You must install PowerPoint 97 before installing the Custom Soundtracks Add-in. Click OK.
When you click OK, the setup program for the Custom Soundtracks quits.


CAUSE

The setup program for the Custom Soundtrack add-in searches for PowerPoint 97. If it does not find the program, it quits.


RESOLUTION

The Custom Soundtrack add-in for PowerPoint 97 cannot be installed in PowerPoint 2000.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the PowerPoint 97 Custom Soundtrack add-in.
