When you use a drag and drop operation to move an AutoShape object that contains text to a bullet placeholder, the object acquires the formatting of the bullet placeholder. For example, the text acquires a bullet even though you did not apply a bullet format to the text. This functionality is different from earlier versions of PowerPoint, where the object retained its original formatting.
This problem occurs when you move the AutoShape object to a bullet placeholder using a drag and drop operation. In this case, the AutoShape object acquires the formatting of the bullet placeholder.
To work around this problem and retain the default formatting of the text, draw the object instead of moving it.
PowerPoint uses different default formatting for AutoShape objects than for bullet placeholder text. For example, the default formatting for AutoShape objects is no bullet and the text is centered vertically within its vertical line space. The default formatting for bullet placeholder text includes the bullet and the text is aligned at the top of the line space.
