When you send a fax from Microsoft Outlook that contains a Microsoft PowerPoint file as an attachment, you may receive the following error message:
PowerPoint cannot print to the rendering system. It is not a valid
printer type.
Microsoft Outlook 97 does not handle the PowerPoint attachment properly because PowerPoint handles the print and video drivers differently than Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
To resolve this problem, you can fax the document from PowerPoint by following these steps:
1. On the File menu, click by Print.
2. In the Printer Name list, select the fax driver you want to use and
click OK.
3. Enter the fax destination information and follow the instructions on
your screen.
If you want to fax to a large distribution list and use Outlook, use one
of the following methods.
1. Open your presentation and then click Black And White on the View menu.
2. Preview the presentation to ensure its readability as a black and white
fax.
3. On the File menu, point to Send To, and click Microsoft Word.
4. Select one of the layouts, and click OK.
5. On the File menu, click Save.
You can now send the file as an attachment in an Outlook message.
1. Start or switch to Outlook.
2. On the File menu, click Print.
3. In the Printer Name list, select the fax driver you want to use and
click OK.
4. Enter the distribution list information and follow the instructions on
your screen.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
