After you exit the Slide Finder after inserting some slides from a file, the current slide is the last slide you inserted. If you then click Undo Insert Slides from Files on the Edit menu and click Redo Insert Slides from Files, the current slide is the slide previous to the newly added slides.
When you change views or switch from slide to slide, PowerPoint does not treat that action as one that can be undone or redone. You never see an Undo View Slide command on the Edit menu. In this case, the Undo and Redo commands only apply to the addition and removal of slides and not the change in Slide view.
