This article provides a list of feature changes and bug fixes in Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows Service Release 1.
1. The Microsoft Office 97 SR-1 Enterprise Update compact disc includes
Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 97, a PowerPoint viewer which directly
supports PowerPoint 97 features. PowerPoint Viewer 97 is not included
in the Microsoft Office 97 SR-1 patch.
2. The Microsoft Office 97 SR-1 Enterprise Update compact disc includes a
graphics import filter for FlashPix and Microsoft Picture-It files. This
graphics import filter is not included with the Microsoft Office 97 SR-1
patch.
3. In PowerPoint 97 Service Release 1, you can choose to automatically
convert Graph 97 objects to Graph 5.0 objects when you save a
presentation in an earlier format. If you then open the presentation on
a computer running PowerPoint 4.0 or 7.0, you can edit the graphs in
that presentation using Graph 5.0. You can access this option from File
Save As dialog, by changing the dropdown for Save As Type to one of the
the following types:
Powerpoint 95 with Graph 5.0 (*.ppt)
Powerpoint 4 with Graph 5.0 (*.ppt)
4. The Pack and Go Wizard in PowerPoint 97 Service Release 1, can pack
presentations as PowerPoint 97 presentations instead of PowerPoint 7.0
and 97 dual-format presentations. As a result, fewer disks are required
to pack a presentation.
5. If the central processing unit (CPU) of your computer supports the
MultiMedia Extensions (MMX) instruction set, PowerPoint 97 Service
Release 1 can display inserted JPEG images more quickly.
