PPT97: Page Numbers Printed on Handouts Even if Not Selected

SYMPTOMS

Page numbers are printed on Handouts pages even though you cleared the Page Numbers check box in the Header And Footer dialog box for the Handout Master.

CAUSE

PowerPoint does not properly remove the page numbers from the footer of the

Handout Master when you use the Header And Footer dialog box.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:

1. On the View menu, point to Master, and click Handout Master.

2. In the Number Area on the lower right-hand side of the page, select

   the page number field (<#>).

3. On the Edit menu, click Clear.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
