The information in this article applies to:
When you attempt to apply a PowerPoint 4.0 Presentation Template in PowerPoint 97, you may see the "Preview Not Available" message in the Preview area of the Apply Design Template dialog box.
PowerPoint 97 saves a Device Independent Bitmap (DIB) image of the first slide in your presentation as a preview image. In contrast, PowerPoint 4.0 uses a Windows Metafile (WMF) image of slide one as the preview image. This behavior occurs with templates that shipped with PowerPoint 4.0. It does not occur with templates that you create in PowerPoint 4.0
You can add a DIB preview to the PowerPoint 4.0 template in PowerPoint 97 by following these steps:
1. Open the PowerPoint 4.0 template in PowerPoint 97.
2. On the File menu, click Properties.
3. Click the Summary Tab.
4. Click to select the Save Preview Picture check box, and then click OK.
5. On the File menu, click Save As.
6. From the Save As Type list, click Presentation Template (*.pot), select
the folder where you want to save the file, and then click Save.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for each PowerPoint 4.0 template you want to
add a DIB preview.
When you attempt to open this template, you should see a preview.
