PPT97: Some Presentations Print Blank from PowerPoint Viewer 97

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to print a presentation from Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 97, your printer ejects one or more blank pages instead of printing the slides in that presentation.

CAUSE

The presentation is configured to print as notes or handouts pages by default. PowerPoint Viewer 97 cannot print notes or handouts pages, so it prints blank pages instead.

RESOLUTION

To print the presentation in PowerPoint Viewer 97, open the presentation in PowerPoint 97 and change the default print properties so that the presentation does not print as notes pages or handouts by default. To do this, use the following steps:

1. Open the presentation in PowerPoint 97.

2. On the Tools menu, click Options.

3. Click the Print tab.

4. Click "Use the Following Default Print Settings" button. 

   NOTE: To clear custom printing properties for the current presentation,
   click "Use the Most Recently Used Print Settings" instead.
5. In the Print What list, select the item you want. For example, click 
   Slides.
6. Click OK.

When you click the Print button, the presentation prints according to the settings you just made.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
