When you check spelling in a text box in the header or footer of a document, you may see the following behavior:
In Microsoft Word for Windows 7.x:
The Header/Footer toolbar appears on top of the Spelling dialog box,
and you are unable to continue.
In Microsoft Word 6.x for Windows:
You receive the message "The spelling is complete" even though
incorrectly spelled words remain in the text box.
If the Header And Footer toolbar appears on top of the Spelling dialog box, follow these steps to continue to check spelling in your document:
1. Click in the Header And Footer toolbar and holding down the left mouse
button, drag it out of the way of the Spelling dialog box.
2. Click the Resume button in the Spelling dialog box to continue to check
spelling in the document.
To check spelling in a text box in the header or footer:
1. On the View menu, click Header And Footer.
2. Click in the text box area.
A gray border appears.
3. On the Tools menu, click Spelling.
4. Repeat this procedure for any remaining text boxes in either the header
or footer of the document.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
