The information in this article applies to:

• Microsoft Internet Assistant for Word for Windows 95, version 2.04z

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to invoke a hyperlink or URL from Word 7.0 for Windows 95 with the Word Internet Assistant version 2.04z installed, you may receive the following error message:

   Proxy authorization required
   Username authentication required for using this proxy.  Either your
   browser does not perform proxy authorizations, or your authorization
   has failed.

CAUSE

Inernet Assistant versions 2.04z and earlier do not support proxy authorization. Internet Assistant does not have support for upper-level IP protocol functions.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem does not occur in Microsoft Word 97.
