WD2000: Arranging All Windows Closes Full Screen ViewID: Q220288
|
If you view a document in full screen view and want to view multiple documents at the same time, when you click Arrange All on the Window menu, all the open document windows change to a non-full screen view (for example, print layout, normal, Web layout, or outline view).
NOTE: In earlier versions of Microsoft Word, if you view a document in full screen view and you click Arrange All on the Window menu, all open document windows are displayed in full screen view.
In versions of Word prior to Word 2000, the Multiple Document Interface (MDI) was used, which allowed for the arranging of all windows while remaining in full screen view. Beginning with Word 2000, the Single Document Interface (SDI) replaces the MDI. Because each SDI document is its own window, it is impossible to view more than one SDI document at a time in full screen view.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
