WD2000: BuiltInDocumentProperties Returns Incorrect Page CountID: Q212653
|
When you use a macro to insert page breaks in a document and then return a page count by using the BuiltInDocumentProperties property, the number of pages returned may be incorrect.
The document needs to be repaginated before you return the number of pages.

Sub GetNumberOfPages()
ActiveDocument.Repaginate
MsgBox ActiveDocument.BuiltInDocumentProperties(wdPropertyPages)
End Sub
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
Two features in Word affect the page count of a document. This is by design of the product, and these should be checked when you manipulate a document programmatically: Field code and Hidden text turned on or off will increase or decrease the length of a document. If the page count, character count, or line count is necessary in your code, the Repaginate method should be invoked.
