WD2000: Draft Font Option Does Not Display an Underline for Bold and Italic Font Attributes

SYMPTOMS

When you view a document in normal view or outline view with the Draft font option selected, Word does not emphasize the bold, italic, and bold italic (combination) formatting with an underline.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, clear the check box for the Draft font option on the View tab (on the Tools menu, click Options), or switch to another view to get the proper visual representation of the text.

NOTE: This issue is limited to a visual misrepresentation in normal and outline views. This does not result in a loss of data or formatting.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
