ERROR MESSAGE

When you attempt to save a document to overwrite an existing document, the following error message appears:

The password is incorrect. Word cannot overwrite the document.

You have attempted to overwrite a document that is protected with a password, and you have entered an incorrect password.

You have attempted to overwrite a document that is protected with a password, and you have entered an incorrect password.

Passwords prevent access to a protected item or document by unauthorized users. A password can contain any combination of letters, numerals, spaces, and symbols, and it can be up to 15 characters long. As you type a password, Word displays an asterisk (*) for each character you type.

You can open a password-protected document only if you supply the correct password. If you forget or lose the password, you cannot open your document.

Passwords are case-sensitive. Check to see whether the CAPS LOCK key is on, or retype the password to make sure that you didn't mistype it.
