WD2000: NUMPAGES Field Prints Incorrect Results

SYMPTOMS

When you print a document containing the NUMPAGES field (for example, page 1 of 5), the Total Number of Pages field (NUMPAGES) may print incorrectly.

NOTE: When you view the Total Number of Pages field (NUMPAGES) on the screen, it appears correctly.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do one of the following methods before you print your Word 2000 document:

Method 1: Turn off Show/Hide

To turn off Show/Hide, do one of the following:

On the Standard toolbar, click Show/Hide. If the Standard toolbar is missing, point to Toolbars on the View menu and click to select Standard.

On the Tools menu, click Options. On the View tab, click to clear the All check box, and then click OK.

Method 2: Turn on Reverse Print Order

NOTE: The Reverse print order option prints pages in reverse order, beginning with the last page of the document. Do not use this method if you are printing an envelope.

To turn on the Reverse print order option, do the following steps:

On the Tools menu in Word, click Options.

On the Print tab, click to select the Reverse print order check box.

Click OK to close the Options dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
