WD2000: Problems with Hyperlink Beginning with Number Sign (#)ID: Q224761

When you enter a hyperlink into a document and the hyperlink begins with the number sign character (#), editing the hyperlink replaces the number sign character (#) with "/ - ".
For example, the hyperlink,
http://#WebSite/MyWebPageafter editing, changes to,
http:/// - WebSite/MyWebPageWhen you click the hyperlink, either before or after you edit the hyperlink, the following error message appears:
NOTE: When you edit the hyperlink in Word, the Text to display box replaces the number sign character (#) with "/ - ".Cannot connect to the Internet server.
To work around this problem, if possible, change the Web site or Web page name to remove the number sign character (#).
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
