WD2000: Table Jumps to Different Position Than Placed

SYMPTOMS

When you click and drag (move) a table down in your document, the table may jump up to a different position than you wanted.

CAUSE

This problem only occurs when you first move the table. By default, a table is inserted into a Word document in line with the text. When you first move the table, Word must convert the table to "floating" with text wrapping of Around. During the conversion process, Word may incorrectly place the "floating" table in a different position than you wanted.

WORKAROUND

Move the table a second time. After you move the "floating" table, the table remains where you place it.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
