SYMPTOMS

After you save your Word document as a Web page and you close and reopen the document, when you quit Word with the Web page open, the following error message may appear:

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

NOTE: This problem may also occur if you close the Web page before quitting Word or if Word is configured as the e-mail editor in Microsoft Outlook and Outlook has been shut down before you close Word.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when a hyperlink that includes several paragraphs is copied to the Windows clipboard.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, clear the Windows clipboard of the hyperlinked paragraphs before you quit Word. Use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Copy new information to the Windows clipboard.

  1. In your Web page document, select a blank line. The paragraph mark must be selected.

  2. On the Edit menu, click Copy.

When you copy the blank paragraph, the contents of the Windows clipboard is replaced. The copied hyperlinked text no longer exists on the Windows clipboard.

Method 2: Delete the contents of the Windows clipboard.

  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click Clipboard Viewer.

  2. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
