WD2000: WordArt Fill Separates Editing As Enhanced Metafile

ID: Q220536

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you copy and paste a WordArt image as a picture (enhanced metafile) (on the Edit menu, click Paste Special), and then edit the picture with Word as the picture editor, the WordArt image fill becomes a separate background or foreground covering the text of the WordArt image.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, you can use another picture editor to edit the enhanced metafile image. For example, you can use Microsoft PhotoDraw as your picture editor in Word.

NOTE: Microsoft PhotoDraw is an optional component that ships with Microsoft Office 2000 Premium Edition (CDs 3 & 4). It is also packaged as a stand-alone product.

To see what applications are available as a picture editor in Word, use the following steps:

  1. In Word, click Options on the Tools menu.

  2. On the Edit tab, click the down arrow in the Picture editor box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
