This article describes how to turn off the Office Assistant so you will not be prompted with tips on how to more effectively use certain features in Word.
The Office Assistant in Word can show you tips for features you may not know about and offer suggestions on how to better use the features you do know about.
For example:
Dear Mom,
the Office Assistant appears with the following prompt:
It looks like you're writing a letter. Would you like help?
Word can automatically convert your typing to a Numbered List item.
Word can automatically convert your typing to a Bulleted List item.
Word can automatically convert your typing to a Table.
Chapter One

the Office Assistant may appear with:
Word can automatically convert your typing to a solid black border.
To turn this feature off, follow these steps:
1. Right-click the Office Assistant, and then on the shortcut menu, click
Options.
NOTE: If the Assistant is hidden, click the Office Assistant button on
the Standard toolbar.
2. On the Options tab, click to clear the "Using features more
effectively"
check box, and then click OK.
