WV: Can't Save File from Word Viewer

SYMPTOMS

If you open a Word document (.doc) or Rich Text Format (.rtf) file in Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word Viewer 97-2000 will be started in- place from within Internet Explorer, allowing you to view the document. If

you attempt to save the document from inside Word Viewer, it will appear to save the file, although the file will not be created.

WORKAROUND

To work around the problem, use the following steps:

1. In Internet Explorer, click the Back button to return to the previous Web page.



2. Right-click the document that you just returned from and click Save Target As from the shortcut menu.



3. Give the document a name and choose the location you want the document saved to.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
