CG5: MMC Files Incorrectly Listed as Install On DemandID: Q218693
|
When you open an Office 2000 setup application in Maintenence mode, you may notice that certain Clip Catalogs are set to Install on First Use. Even if you change this setting to Run from My Comuter, these catalogs will still be set as Install on First Use the next time you are in Maintenance Mode.
In addition, none of the other Clip Catalogs will display Install on First Use as an installation option. When you use Microsoft Clip Gallery, some of the clip art may be missing.
When Office 2000 is installed, it updates several aspects of your computer. The Windows Installer is one of them. During this process, existing Clip Catalog (MMC) files are indexed by the installer. Existing Clip Catalog files will be displayed as Install on First Use by Maintenence Mode, even if the Clip Catalog is already installed on the local hard drive.
Because the Clip Catalog files listed are installed on the local hard drive, no action is necessary. Clip Gallery will display all clips normally. If the Clip Catalog files are located on a compact disc, the compact disc must be inserted before Clip Gallery is started, or else the clipart represented by the Clip Catalog will not appear in the Clip Gallery.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Clip Gallery 5.0.
