When you use the Function Wizard to enter a formula that contains a user- defined function in a cell, the formula may be calculated more than once.
A user-defined function is calculated multiple times in Microsoft Excel 98 if the following conditions are true:

To work around this problem, do not use the Function Wizard to insert the custom function.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
For more information about entering formulas, click Contents And Index on the Help menu (or on the Balloon Help menu if you are using a version of the Macintosh operating system earlier than 8.0), click the Index button in Microsoft Excel Help, type the following text
