OL98: Outlook Doesn't Exit After Using PublishForm Method

The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMS
Outlook does not quit completely after using the PublishForm method in the Outlook object model.
CAUSE
Your code publishes the form in a folder.
RESOLUTION
Use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Publish the form to the Personal Forms Library instead.
Method 2
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but
it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems
experiencing this specific problem.
To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Outlook 2000.

To force Outlook to quit when using the PublishForm method in the Outlook object model, use the following steps for your operating
system.
Microsoft Windows 95/98
- Close all unsaved messages.
- Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Close Program dialog box.
- Click to select Microsoft Outlook, and then click End Task.
Microsoft Windows NT 4.x
- Close all unsaved messages.
- Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and click Task Manager.
- On the Applications tab, click to select Microsoft Outlook, and then click End Task.
The PublishForm method allows you to programmatically publish a form to a forms library or folder. It is typically used in a solution that deploys forms in an organization.
