XL98: Modules Inserted Manually Are Not in Modules Collection

SYMPTOMS

When you use a Visual Basic for Applications macro to determine the members in the Modules collection in a workbook, some Visual Basic modules may be excluded from the collection.

CAUSE

Any modules that you manually insert into a project in the Visual Basic Editor are not added to the Modules collection. Only modules that are added by using the Add method for the Module object are members of the Modules collection.

For backward compatibility, the Modules collection is available in Microsoft Excel 98; however, modules that you add manually are not added to the collection.

To return all components of a project, use the VBComponents collection of the project. For example, the following macro loops through all of the components in the active project and displays a message box with the name of each component:

   Sub Project_Components()
      For Each x In Application.VBE.ActiveVBProject.VBComponents
         MsgBox x.Name
      Next
   End Sub

STATUS

This behavior is by design of Microsoft Excel 98.
