FIX: Hang Adding Large Files to Project through Microsoft Proxy

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Visual InterDev hangs when it is waiting for large files to be copied to the server over a Microsoft Proxy Server 1.0.


CAUSE

When you try to add large files (about 65K and up) through a Microsoft Proxy Server 1.0, Visual InterDev hangs. Visual InterDev hangs because the large files do not get copied across the firewall, and the add file operation is never completed.


STATUS

Upgrade to Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Under Tools/Options/Web Project Proxy, point to a Microsoft Proxy Server 1.0.


  2. Create a new Web project.


  3. Point to a machine outside the firewall as your server.


  4. Add a file to the project that is larger than 65K in size. This causes Visual InterDev to hang.
