FIX: Form Wizard Error w/ Scrolling Grid Style and Remote Views

SYMPTOMS

The Form Wizard reports the following error when trying to save and run a form with a scrolling grid based off of a remote view:

IF!TableUpdate(.T.,.T.,aTablesUsed[m.i,1] && update on exit
Error: 1586
Function requires row or table buffering mode.
Method: destroy
Line: 65
Pressing OK allows the Form Wizard to continue creating the form.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

This bug was corrected in Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 3.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Create and save a remote view using the View Designer.


  2. Start the Form Wizard and choose Form Wizard.


  3. In step 1, add two fields and select Next.


  4. In step 2, choose Custom for the Button Type and make sure Scrolling grid appears in the drop-down list.


  5. Click Finish and choose the Save and run the form option.


  6. Click Finish.


  7. The error mentioned in the SYMPTOMS section appears. Pressing OK allows the Form Wizard to finish creating the form.
