"Cannot Write to Drive 'C'" During Setup on HP Vectra P6 200ID: Q188200
|
When you are installing Windows 98, Setup restarts your computer after it
finishes copying files. When the computer restarts, you may receive the
following error message:
Cannot write to drive "C". Press any key to continue.
This behavior can occur if you are using a Hewlett-Packard Vectra P6/200 computer with a BIOS version earlier than GG.06.11.
To resolve this issue, upgrade the computer's BIOS. For information about
obtaining and installing a BIOS upgrade, please consult your computer's
documentation or manufacturer.
In many cases, pressing ENTER allows Setup to continue. You may encounter more than one error message; press ENTER for each occurrence of the error message. After Setup finishes, ScanDisk starts when you next start the computer. If ScanDisk prompts to perform a thorough disk check, allow ScanDisk to do so. If you do not, you receive the prompt each time you start the computer.
