"Unknown Monitor" Message in New Hardware Profile

SYMPTOMS
When you create a new hardware profile by starting your computer in a new
docking state or by copying an existing hardware profile in the System
Properties dialog box, the first time you start your computer, you may
receive the following message:
   Unknown Monitor.
CAUSE
The monitor type is not maintained as part of a hardware profile;
therefore, creating a new hardware profile does not copy existing
monitor settings.
RESOLUTION
After you start your computer in a new hardware profile, reselect the
monitor type in the Display Properties dialog box. To select a monitor
type, follow these steps:
Windows 95
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control
   Panel.
 
- Double-click Display.
 
- Click the Settings tab, and then click Change Display Type.
  
   NOTE: If you are using Microsoft Windows 95 OEM Service
   Release 2 (OSR2), click Advanced Properties, and then click
   the Monitor tab.
 
- Click Show Compatible Devices, and then click the correct
   monitor setting for your hardware.
  
   NOTE: If you are using OSR2, click Change, click Show
   Compatible Devices, and then click the correct monitor
   setting for your hardware.
 
- Click OK, click Close, click OK, and then close Control
   Panel.
 
Windows 98
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
 
- Double- click Display.
 
- Click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.
 
- Click the Monitor tab, and then click Change.
 
- In the Manufacturers box, click the manufacturer of your monitor.
 
- In the Models box, click the monitor you are using, click OK, and
   then click OK again.
 
- Click OK.
