"Windows Protection Error" with EZ-SCSI 4.0 and Easy-CD Pro 95

SYMPTOMS

After you install the Adaptec EZ-SCSI 4.0 and the Adaptec Easy-CD Pro 95 programs, you may receive the following error message:

Windows Protection Error: You need to restart your computer.

You may be able to use Windows, but you may not be able to use the EZ-SCSI 4.0 and Easy-CD Pro 95 programs.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, restart your computer in Safe mode, and then uninstall the EZ-SCSI 4.0 and Easy-CD Pro 95 programs. To restart your computer in Safe mode, restart your computer, press and hold down the CTRL key until the Windows 98 Startup menu appears, and then choose Safe mode.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this behavior is not caused by a problem in Windows 98, but may be caused by design changes in Windows 98. For more information about resolving this issue, contact the program's manufacturer.
