When you are using the America Online software configured to use a
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Winsock
connection instead of a modem connection, you receive the following error
message when you try to download a file from America Online over a Dial-Up
Networking TCP/IP Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) Internet connection:
(TCP/IP) Lost Connection
Upgrade your America Online software to version 2.5 or later. For
information about obtaining this software upgrade, please contact America
Online Technical Support.
Configuring the America Online software to use a TCP/IP Winsock connection
instead of a modem connection allows you to use an existing Dial-Up
Networking TCP/IP Internet connection to connect to America Online.
