Book Icon in Windows 98 Help Is Displayed Incorrectly

SYMPTOMS

When you are running Windows 98 Help, if you click a book icon in the left pane on the Contents tab to open the Help topic, and then press the PLUS SIGN key on the numeric keypad, the book icon is displayed incorrectly. The icon is displayed with a red mark, and then cycles through various icons ending as a folder icon as you press the PLUS SIGN key.

RESOLUTION

Note that this is a cosmetic problem only. It does not affect the functionality of Help.

To work around this issue, press the MINUS SIGN key on the numeric keypad to cycle the icon back to the book icon. Or, you can quit and restart Help.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows 98.
