Cannot Access Post Office with Windows Messaging

SYMPTOMS
When you install Windows Messaging Service from the Windows 98 CD-ROM you
may not be able to connect to a post office.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you install Windows Messaging after Microsoft
Outlook Express has been installed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install Windows Messaging before Installing Outlook
Express. To do so, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Windows Messaging, and then click
Add/Remove.
- Click No when you are prompted to restart your computer, and then click
the Windows Setup tab.
- Click the Outlook Express check box to clear it, and then click OK.
- Click Yes when you are prompted to restart your computer.
- Repeat steps 1-2.
- On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Install, and then click Next.
- Insert your Windows 98 CD-ROM. In the Command Line box, type the
following line, and then click Finish
<drive>:\tools\oldwin95\message\us\wms.exe
where <drive> is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
- Click Yes when you are prompted to restart your computer.
- Repeat steps 1-2, and then click the Windows Setup tab.
- Click the Outlook Express check box to select it, and then click OK.
