Computer Stops Responding During Power On Self Test

SYMPTOMS

You may experience the following symptoms:

When you start your computer, it stops responding (hangs) during Power On Self Test (POST).

When you try to load drivers for an Epson ES-600C scanner in Windows 98, your computer prematurely restarts during device enumeration and then hangs during POST.

CAUSE

Either of these issues can occur if you are using an Adaptec AHA-2940 Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) adapter with a SCSI Epson ES-600C scanner.

RESOLUTION

To resolve these issues, contact Epson Technical Support.

Epson does not support using a SCSI Epson ES-600C scanner with an Adaptec AHA-2940 SCSI adapter.
