DFS Support in Windows 98 Hangs the Client for Microsoft NetworksID: Q235276

When you try to connect your Windows 98-based computer to a Microsoft Windows NT-based server with Distributed File System (DFS) shares, the Windows 98 protect-mode redirector (Vedir.vxd) may stop responding. Also, network connectivity may be unavailable.
This problem can occur because an internal counter used by VRedir was decremented, causing Vredir.vxd to interpret that its connection resources were exhausted.
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but
it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems
experiencing this specific problem.
