Dr. Solomon's WinGuard Anti-Virus Is Disabled After UpgradeID: Q187538
|
After you upgrade Microsoft Windows 95 to Windows 98, Dr. Solomon's WinGuard Anti-Virus is no longer started automatically when you start Windows 98.
This behavior occurs because a virtual device driver (.vxd) included with
versions of WinGuard Anti-Virus earlier than version 7.81 can cause your
computer to perform slowly and stop responding (hang) when you attempt to
gain access to your floppy disk drive. For this reason, Windows 98 Setup
disables WinGuard Anti-Virus.
To work around this behavior so that WinGuard Anti-Virus is started
automatically when you start Windows 98, use either of the following
methods:
Microsoft has confirmed that this behavior is not caused by a problem
in Windows 98, but may be caused by design changes in Windows 98. For
more information about resolving this issue, contact the program's
manufacturer.
