Drive A Present Even Though it Is Not Physically ConnectedID: Q205942
|
When you view Windows Explorer, My Computer, or Device Manager, you may see drive A, even though there may not be a physical drive A connected to your computer.
This behavior can occur when the Io.sys file is executed when you start your computer.
This behavior is by design.
MS-DOS assigns drive A as a bootable drive and to prevent other storage devices from using this drive letter designation. This behavior is consistent with all previous versions of MS-DOS.
