Err Msg: The Mouse Driver for MS-DOS Cannot Be Loaded from...ID: Q141442
|
When you start Windows, the following error message may be displayed
in a full-screen MS-DOS window:
The mouse driver for MS-DOS cannot be loaded from an MS-DOS session within Windows. Exit Windows to load the mouse driver for MS-DOS.
This error message can occur if Mouse.com or Mouse.exe is being loaded in the Winstart.bat file instead of the Autoexec.bat file.
To resolve this issue, use a text editor (such as Notepad) to remove the line that loads the mouse driver from the Winstart.bat file in the Windows folder, and then restart the computer.
The Winstart.bat file is used to load terminate-and-stay-resident (TSR) programs that are required for Windows-based programs and are not needed in MS-DOS sessions. The Winstart.bat file should not be used to set environment variables.
